Homecoming Weekend

 Homecoming here at Ohio Northern was last weekend.  The main homecoming event I went to was the ONU football game.  We hosted Muskingum at 1:30 on Saturday.  It was an eventful pre-game with there being a lot more people than normal attending the game.  A lot of people were tailgating and catching up with old teammates and friends.

The game itself was somewhat uneventful.  After the first quarter Muskingum was up 7-0.  Muskingum took a 14-0 lead in the second when the Bears finally got some points on the board, making the score 14-7 in favor of Muskingum.  Then as the half was winding down, Muskingum got a huge interception and capitalized off the Bears mistake bring the score to 20-7 at the half.  Nothing really happened in third quarter and the score remained 20-7.  The same could really be said for the fourth quarter.  Muskingum managed to get a field goal to extend the lead 23-7 but neither team could really get anything going offensively.  That was pretty much the story of the game for the Bears.

All in all the game was fun to be at.  The atmosphere was super cool to be a part of with all the past and present Bears.  Hopefully ONU fixes their mistakes from this game and comes out on top next week! Go Bears!

    Being apart of the football team it was cool to see all the people at the game. I saw some former football players that I haven't seen in so long. I love those guys so much. It was great to be able to catch up with them.

    It's always a cool environment for a sporting event when a lot of people show up, especially alumni and people the players are close to.

Thanksgiving Break

 My Thanksgiving break was less relaxing than it has been the previous 3 years.  I had to stay in Ada through Wednesday because I was scheduled to work both Monday and Tuesday. Then on Wednesday I drove two and a half hours east for a job interview.  So I didn't get home until about 6:00pm on Wednesday evening.  Thanksgiving was still enjoyable though.  In my opinion Thanksgiving is the most underrated holiday.  This holiday involves two of my favorite things - football and food.  Three games of NFL football and what seems to be an endless amount of food to be eaten.  Then the cherry on top was that my favorite NFL team, the Minnesota Vikings, played the last game of the day and won.  Then on Friday I had another Thanksgiving celebration which meant more food.  I think people don't appreciate Thanksgiving as much as they should.  It seems like people are more focused on getting to Christmas and not so much on Thanksgiving which I am not a fan of.

 My music tastes have really changed over the past year and a half.  For most of my life up until summer of 2021 the main artists I would listen to was J Cole, Chance the Rapper, Kendrick Lamar and Logic.  Then summer of 2021 I had a job that I was able to listen to music the whole time so I started listening to a different style of rap.  Artists like Future, Lil Baby and Lil Durk were at the top of that list.  For the rest of the year up until last summer the music I listened to consisted of predominantly those three artists as well as J Cole.  Then this summer I did a lot of driving which made me venture into country music.  Artists like Morgan Wallen, Jordan Davis, Luke Combs and Rodney Atkins became the main country artists I listened to.   I like the current state of music that I listen to compared to a few years ago.  There is a lot more variety which prevents different artists and styles from becoming stale quickly.  I like being able to go from trap rap to country in back to ba

Squatober End

Last Monday was the end of another great month of squatting everyday.  If you don't know about Squatober, go back to my blog from a couple weeks ago.  Squatober is basically just back squatting everyday in October.  This month has once again produced a personal record (PR) for myself.  Before October my PR on the back squat was 455 pounds, then on Monday I was able to squat 475 pounds.  20 pounds may not seem like a lot but a 20 pound increase in one month is crazy progress and that is what Squatober is all about.  It was a really fun month and challenge to participate in and has made me even more excited for my training.
